Heritage Auctions, a well-established auction house with over 40 years of longevity, is hiring in our New York office to meet our growing business needs.  We are seeking ambitious candidates who will bring their excellent reputation, business ethics, strong work ethic, organizational skills, and knowledge to represent Heritage in the best light.
SUMMARY: Responsible for managing inventory and providing detailed organization of all incoming/outgoing consignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manage permanent and consigned inventory for private treaty, $1-$2 million
  • Process and enter all consigned and purchased inventory
  • Private treaty invoicing for all clients
  • Ensuring prompt delivery of all purchases & absolute discretion for VIP clientele
  • Managing office schedule to ensure deadlines are met for four auctions and all retail venues
  • Cataloging as deadlines require
  • Entering all items to auction, 300 single and group lots per sale, four sales a year valued at $1.5-$4 million
  • Managing paperwork for consignors, guaranteeing no item is entered without signature and that all items that placed in appropriate venue, submitting all exception requests as needed
  • Manage unsold auction items, ensuring merchandise is stored, reconsigned, returned, or moved to memo
  • Assist in sourcing talent to contribute to design and ensure all bags are accounted for, oversee shoots directly
  • Manage prep for all off-site events and photoshoots including ensuring all necessary goods are available, preparing additional supplies as needed, tracking condition pre and post, moving material to appropriate invoice
  • Overseeing movement of property between offices
  • Work closely with shipping operations to adhere to inter-office shipping protocol to reduce risk
  • Must be able to travel to Dallas, TX  for verification of each sale
  • 4+ years’ experience in the luxury brand industry and/ or in a major auction house working environment
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferred
  • Ideal candidate is a go-getter, outgoing, self-motivated, independent professional.
  • Must be highly proficient in basic Microsoft applications, specifically Word and Excel, have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, high ability to multitask, pay great attention to detail, and have a positive attitude with exceptional customer service skills.
  • Public speaking talents are a plus! Self-motivation, intelligence, and strong work ethic.
